Kathy Schrock Interview! Episode 4!!!

It was my extreme pleasure on July 26 to present a full-day workshop for teachers at Wardlaw-Hartridge School in Edison New Jersey, an offering of the Grace M. Hopper Teacher Institute. Famed educational technology pioneer Kathy Schrock was the other featured presenter, and Kathy agreed to be the focus of an S4theB ("Snacks4theBrain," of course!)interview geared toward sharing some of her expertise and a smidgin of her vast online resources with science teachers. Her interview, conducted asynchronously via email and sound attachments, comprises our show number 4. Download the show here! View a flickr photo set from the workshop here. To augment the whole experience (mustn't ignore alternative learning styles!), below are links to the sites Kathy discusses in the show, as well as a link (mentioned early on) to my Desktop Interactive Videoconferencing blog: Google Advanced Search Page AltaVista Advanced Search Page Google News DiscoverySchool: Lesson Plans ScienceNet Links: Lesson Plans North Harris College (TX): Science Animations, Movies, and Interactive Tutorial Links Physlets Blue Web’n: Science Tutorials How Stuff Works Kathy Schrock's Guide for Educators Kathy Schrock's Guide for Educators: Science Links Scott's Desktop IVC site

Snacks070605: BEST Camp Interview with Joe Lopez

Snacks4theBrain will be a series of 5-10 minute podcasts dedicated to the work of the Vanderbilt Center for Science Outreach and is guaranteed to be enlightening, especially for parents of school-age children, K12 teachers, professional research scientists, and K12 and university school administrators. The first episode was recorded on July 6, 2005 and features, Joe Lopez, facilitator of the newly instigated Boys Exploring Science and Technology (BEST) summer camp, held now every summer at Vanderbilt University's campus. Learn a little about what goes on and why such a camp was deemed necessary! The rss feed for subscription is in the sidebar to the left and here's where to download the individual show. Enjoy!!!
